Sectional and regional matchups for the upcoming girls basketball state tournament will be drawn and announced on the IHSAA State Tournament Pairings Show next Monday, February 1, at 6 pm ET / 5 pm CT.

The show, originating from the Clarian Health Entry Pavilion at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, will be streamed in live video and audio over the internet at and may also be heard on any of the broadcast affiliates of the IHSAA / Methodist Sports Medicine Championship Radio Network.

Upon conclusion of the 90-minute broadcast, the complete draw will be placed on the IHSAA website at

The girls sectionals run Monday, February 8, through Saturday, February 13. Regionals are Saturday, February 20, semi-states are Saturday, February 27, and the state finals on Saturday, March 6, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.

The complete lineup of sectional teams can be found on the always excellent website of John Harrell, which includes current records and intrasectional meetings from throughout the season.

Without a doubt, the most difficult sectional lineup appears in 3A Sectional 27, where No. 2 Rushville, No. 3 Hamilton Heights and No. 5 Mount Vernon (Fortville) will be duking it out early in the tournament for the right to move on. Mount Vernon comes into the sectional tournament with a 1-point win over Hamilton Heights back in November, but Rushville -- led by double-digit scorers Morgan Herbert, Alexa Bess, Shelby Justice and Maegan Hittle -- should be considered the favorite with a 3-0 season record against sectional opponents and a high-profile win in the Hall of Fame Classic in December. The unknown for Rushville will be Hamilton Heights, a team which they have not met during the season. Hamilton Heights is led by the D-I duo of juniors Jessica Carr (Valparaiso) and Libby Ogden (IPFW, right), with solid contributions from senior Catie Carroll and juniors Caitlin Bischoff and Maddie Herr. Their only loss on the season was to Rushville in that 1-point loss and they will be coming into the tournament with much to prove.

Should be another exciting tournament season!
