South Bend Washington battled back from a double-digit deficit to get a chance to win the IHSAA 4A title, but fell just short of the feat. A desperate lunging bank shot by Ben Davis sophomore Bria Goss sealed the Panthers' fate and gave the Giants the slim lead they needed to capture the 4A title.

Ben Davis is the National Champ! Great, great comeback by SBW and Diggins to even have a chance at the end. Incredible finish and a great testament to girls basketball in Indiana. The fans here definitely got their money's worth today!
0:01.4 - Diggins ties it up on a runner, BD holds the ball for the last shot and B. Goss throws up a runner that banks in. ABSOLUTELY incredible. BD up 71-69.
1:26 - Getting really exciting guys. Williams at the line, hits the first, hits the 2nd. BD up by 4 69-65.
1:40 - Diggins fouled on a layup. She's at the line, hits the first, hits the second. Two point game!
1:45 - SBW closes the gap to 4. Diggins picks up her 4th foul and puts Williams on the line, Huge free throws here. She misses the first, misses the 2nd.
2:18 - Time out by BD to avoid a turnover. SBW making a game out of this at the end. Chipping away at the lead. BD 65, SBW 59. Can they do it?
2:43 - Bentley fouls out of the game on a inbounds play foul and puts Phillips on the line for two.
3:11 - SBW trying everything and taking some steps forward, but BD is matching them step for step. BD 63, SBW 54. Lots of ground to make up with time running out.
5:02 - Ben Davis getting too many easy shots. The Giants' bench is much deeper than SBW and that is starting to show with two starters out of the game for good. SBW needs a rally really fast or it's 2nd place.
5:57 - Things not looking good for SBW as Rakeesha Lane fouls out of the game on a charge call. SBW still down, but by 8.
3Q - Ben Davis 54, South Bend Washington 44
Ben Davis keeps working the defense and it's paying off. Senior Emily Huber is getting a chance to shine in her final game, hitting some timely long-range shots. This is do or die time for SBW. They will need big buckets from everybody and not just rely on Diggins to get the job done. Expect to see Bentley back in the lineup for the final stanza.
2:41 - Bentley off the floor with four fouls. SBW down by 8.
3:17 - Larry picks up her 4th and 5th fouls in the span of 20 seconds. She will be missed in the post. The challenge grows for SBW.
3:44 - SBW chipping away with some tough defense and good shooting. Lead for BD down to 4 points, 38-34. SBW is turning up the pressure on the perimeter and taking BD out of their comfort zone there. Huge momentum swing for SBW.
5:36 - Bentley leaves the floor with 3 fouls. SBW on a small run, closing it to 8 points.
2Q - Ben Davis 35, South Bend Washington 25
Play got a little sloppy in the last few minutes of the half. Both teams are REALLY struggling from the stripe. Don't have halftime stats yet, but first quarter both teams combined for 1-9 for freebies. Lots of missed freethrows in the 2nd quarter, too. All in all though, both teams are playing at a high level. Fun to be courtside for this one.
2:16 - SBW needs a momentum swing of some kind. This thing is getting away from them.
3:40 - Larry picks up her third and exits the floor. Ben Davis spreading the ball around and hitting some very tough shots from everywhere. They take a 10-point lead here 31-21. Miss Basketball war? Bentley 12, Diggins 7. Am really impressed with skills of Dee Dee Williams. Very quick and smart.
6:25 - BD on a 6-3 run, D. Goss on the line for two. Hits one of two. BD 23, SBW 18
7:00 - Bentley is a gamer! She's telling Skylar to bring it. Scores two straight buckets to give BD the lead, 20-17.
1Q - South Bend Washington 16, Ben Davis 15
End of the 1st. Good basketball here folks. Good ball movement by both teams, no one is taking bad shots. The x-factor of this game so far has been SBW senior Rakeesha Lane, hustling for balls, ripping down rebounds and making things happen.
3:19 - Tied up at 7 apiece on some balanced scoring for both sides. Not a real fast-paced game like we assumed. Both teams are playing good half-court defense, limiting break away opportunities.
7:23 - Phillips drains a three to start the scoring. Bria Goss counters with two from the line with Diggins on the foul.
