HSE's Osborn headed to Miami in Ohio
Region Roundball Review

She's done it again. Miami University head coach Maria Fantanarosa has dug into the fertile Indiana girls basketball landscape and come up with a rich find. Hamilton Southeastern standout and 2008 Junior All-Star Courtney Osborn has verbally committed to Miami. The 5'8 point chose the RedHawks over offers from Wisconsin, Western Michigan, Northwestern, Ball State and Cincinnati.

As a junior, the heady guard averaged 15.7 points (.444 fg, .394 3pt), 4.7 assists and 3.1 steals per game for Hamilton Southeastern head coach Chris Huppenthal. The Royals were 16-5, ending their season in a loss to eventual 4A state champion Carmel by just 5 points in the Sectional 9 championship game. The Royals were ranked the No. 10 team in the state to finish the season.

Osborn, tabbed as the No. 19 2009 point guard in the nation by Hoopgurlz, will be the centerpiece of a strong contingent that returns for HSE in 2008-09. She will be joined by 6'0 senior Paige Smith (13.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg) and 6'0 junior Kelsey Lamb (5.3 rpg) as the core nucleus of this season's team.

When Osborn arrives on the Miami campus in 2009, she will join four other former Hoosiers on the RedHawks roster, including Courtney Reed of Northfield, Chanell Ridley of Ft. Wayne Concordia, Michelle Oswalt of West Lafayette and Maggie Boyer of Lebanon. Photo from the Noblesville Daily Times.

The Family is competing in The Nike Nationals in South Carolina this week, and Ben Davis's super guard Alex Bentley is tearing it up for her Indiana team. She has appeared in the top of the scoring stats at the tournament, scoring 27 points against Tennessee Flight and 22 points against Georgia Elite on Monday, and 28 points against Cal Storm yesterday.

Also garnering some attention is Elkhart Memorial rising senior Jasmine Watson, a 6'2 post who is getting some serious looks from a number of strong college programs. Watson, who joined The Family in July to make the round of top exposure events around the country, was Memorial's 2008 MVP. She is turning some heads on the recruiting circuit, garnering a spot in Hoopgurlz list of "Four players soon to be household names."
