NORTHWESTERN GETS SERIOUS ABOUT WBB... FINALLY
After being at the bottom of the Big Ten for what seems like ages, Big Ten member Northwestern looks like they are finally taking their women's basketball program more seriously. The Wildcats have hired long-time George Washington coach Joe McKeown to take over the floundering WBB program at NU. After going 1-17 in the B10 this past season and 7-59 the past four years, it was time for a change. And a serious one at that. McKeown took GW to 15 NCAA tournaments during his 19 years with the program, including two Sweet Sixteen appearances in the past two years. Northwestern junior Beth Marshall (Hamilton Southeastern) and 2009 recruit Skyler Gick (Benton Central), as well as the B10 in general, will benefit from McKeown's arrival.
