Just about a month and a half away from the time that the Indiana All-Stars will report for practice, two new players will be added to the roster for the Indiana All-Stars series with Kentucky in June.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Northwest senior Larretha Draughon has been removed from the Indiana All-Star team after being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and three counts of criminal confinement. Draughon, who had impressed the All-Stars coaches with her performance at the Top 60 workout, basically played herself onto the team. She was planning to attend two-year college Vincennes University in the fall. It is unclear whether or not she will still have the opportunity to attend VU after this incident.
Also, senior Lauren Taylor of Brownsburg, will be required to report to New Mexico for summer school on June 9, thereby missing the All-Stars series, which takes place the same week. In her place, 6'0 Maconaquah guard/forward Deja Mattox (right) -- a very fine choice -- will take Taylor's place on the All-Stars roster. Mattox, who averaged 22.0 points and 7.8 rebounds as a senior, is headed to Indiana State after withdrawing her verbal commitment to Eastern Michigan last year. Taylor will remain an "honorary" All-Star.
Expect one more addition to the Indiana All-Star roster, as Indiana All-Star Games Director, Pete Smith, is quoted in the Star article as saying, "We currently are working to fill her (Draughon's) spot."
